Oakland DX-8485 Series Total Energy Dart Drop Impact Tester
The Oakland DX-8485A can measure the impact resistance of plastic film, sheet and laminated materials by measuring Total Energy absorbed in the failure process. The Method A drop height is 66 cm (26 inchand includes dart weights up to 1340 grams (2.5 lb) with a stainless steel dart head. Free falling dart impact resistance can also be measured with an option 412 gram dart set with a phenolic dart head.
The square post design with quick release adjustable crosshead clamp ensures that the dart head height and alignment are always within tolerance. Two pneumatic air cylinders move the upper clamp ring up and down using a push button switch. The dart holder has a pneumatic system to secure heavy dart weights in place until released using a push button switch. Speed sensors monitor impact energy at a fixed drop height when measuring the Total Energy absorbed test.
Custom length dart stems and dart weights are available.
Optional load cell supporting the pneumatic dart release to allow automated tabulation of Total Energy absorbed test.
Optional foot pedal controls to activate the clamp ring and the dart release are available.
Optional Pass/Fail buttons that automatically communicate with optional Oakland DX-8300 software for both stair and pass/fail test procedures are available when using the Free Falling dart test method.
Take advantage of Plastics Touchpoint Group’s annual preventative maintenance and certification program to maintain your investment and laboratory certification requirements.
